This fall, the popular WKNO Appraisal Extravaganza will take place at The Great Hall and Conference Center in Germantown,TN. Bring your treasures to have them appraised by one of the many qualified appraisers who will be on hand. Who knows, that old vase you've been keeping on the closet shelf for all these years could be worth more than you know! So make your pledge and then pack up your "stuff" and head on over for a good time at the 4rd Annual WKNO Appraisal Extravaganza! Not only will you have fun but you will also be supporting WKNO! With your pledge of $75 you may bring three items to the Appraisal Extravaganza, or six items for $150. We cannot discount or negotiate a price for 4 or 5 items. Submit Your Online Pledge Here. When making an online pledge, please type "Appraisal Event" in the comments section to secure your spot.

Once we have received your pledge, you will receive a registration form within two weeks. We ask you to complete the form and return it to the station. On the form, choose your favored Session (9:00 – 11:30 AM or 1:00 – 4:00 PM) and list the items you will be bringing, so that we can be sure we have the appraisers we need for your items. Morning or afternoon session will be assigned when the completed registration form is returned to WKNO. Sorry - we cannot guarantee morning or afternoon session until the registration form is returned. 

You may arrive at any time during your assigned session — i.e. morning session folks may come at 10:00 or 10:30 AM, rather than be standing in line right at 9:00 AM. The afternoon session fills up first and generally has been much more crowded than the morning session.

The event is Sunday, October 5, at the Great Hall and Conference Center in Germantown, located at 1900 South Germantown Road, near Germantown Road and Farmington. The Great Hall is located at the south end of the same complex that houses GPAC and the Germantown Athletic Club. A map will be included with your pledge confirmation.

The Appraisal Extravaganza will be held in the main hall, which is directly accessible from the parking lot. There will be lots of signs and people to direct you once you reach the Great Hall parking lot. Handicapped parking and ground floor access are available at the front door.

Below is a list of some of the items we will be able to appraise. There are certainly other kinds of items we will be able to evaluate, as well. Our list of appraisers is not yet complete, so if you have an item not covered by this list, let me know and we’ll see what we can find out.

We will have about 30 appraisers with us on October 5. We have contacted antique dealers, fine art dealers, museum curators, fine jewelers, and estate sale operators from the Mid-South, as well as a number of out-of-town appraisers with specific experience at this kind of
event.  We hope to have a final list ready to post on our website soon.  If there are specific questions, let me know and I will get back to you.

Our experts can often appraise very large pieces and furniture from good photographs. You will need several clear, in-focus photos: at least one indicating the size or scale of the item, an overall view, and close-ups of detail work, signatures, damaged areas, etc.

By all means, bring someone with you to help you carry your items. There is no charge for you to bring a guest. The staff and volunteers of WKNO and the Great Hall are not allowed to help you carry your items. This is for your protection. 

You may have to stand in line for a few moments as we check you in, but once you enter the ballroom there are plenty of chairs to sit in while you wait to see your expert. If you have different kinds of items, you may see a number of different appraisers.

The appraisals you receive at the Appraisal Extravaganza are verbal appraisals only and are estimates of the current market value of your items. These appraisals will not take the place of a certified appraisal for insurance or other purposes.

It is unethical for appraisers to offer to purchase your items at the Appraisal Extravaganza.

The WKNO Appraisal Extravaganza is not affiliated with the PBS program Antiques Roadshow. Our local event is a member benefit and fundraiser for WKNO Memphis.
