WKNO Capital Campaign for Digital Media Center
From the very beginning, the vision for WKNO was to
provide the Mid-South with the opportunity to experience and explore
the breadth and depth of the world around us.
Today, we are dedicated to nourishing the same spirit
of exploration into the 21st century. Every day, we invite our viewers,
listeners and supporters to join us for the new experiences, ideas,
opportunities and perspectives that lay ahead.
The transition to digital broadcasting provides WKNO
television and radio the platform to provide the community with multiple
program services as part of our mission to inform, enlighten, educate
and entertain.
WKNO’s new Digital Media Center, now under development
at Cherry Farms Road and Goodlett Farms Parkway, will provide the
needed digital foundation for enhanced service to our viewers and
listeners.
The 39,000 square foot building will be the home for
WKNO offices as well as production and broadcast operations for the
public television and radio stations. The state-of-the-art center
will include two TV studios – one equipped with HD production
equipment – an HD edit suite, and new digitally equipped FM
Studios.
By blending popular PBS and NPR programs with increased
local programs and features that showcase our community, the new
building will assist WKNO to advance its mission of service.
This historic transition to digital broadcasting is
within $500,000 of its goal of $15 million. Thanks to the generous
support of Individuals, Foundations and Corporations WKNO is in the
process of completing the Capital Campaign and constructing the Digital
Media Center debt-free.
As we begin this final phase of the project, we would
like for you to be a part of the most important initiative in WKNO’s
history. For over 50 years, Community Support has made the programming
services presented possible.
Please consider making a pledge now to help WKNO to
complete this campaign. You may pledge
online here or call the Development Office at 901-458-2521 for
more information.
