Local Color Premieres on ‘KNO Tonite
The ‘KNO Tonite lineup, which airs weeknights at 6:30 on WKNO/Channel 10, welcomes a new program. Local Color will premiere Thursday, January 27. Hosted by event producer Mamie Shannon, the weekly half-hour series produced by WKNO will highlight options for entertainment and adventure in the Mid-South.
“Our community offers such diverse options for food, music, culture, history and current events,’” said Shannon, “that the Mid-South is an unrecognized treasure we should be very proud of.”
Each week, Mamie Shannon and her guests in the Local Color “coffee shop” will discuss the entertainment scene in and around Memphis. Viewers can set their calendars for upcoming activities including theater, music, family events, restaurant reviews, book signings and reviews (both local and national), movies (reviews, local film community events), art (museum exhibits, artists, gallery openings), festivals, outdoor adventures, and more. The weekly series will also feature some of the Mid-South’s best-kept secrets, tips on the most fun you can have for free, and ideas for exploring our region with day trips.
“We are committed to producing local programming that will enhance the quality of our community,” said Michael LaBonia, WKNO President & CEO. “This show is a great way to highlight some of the wonderful things that our region has to offer. It’s a perfect opportunity for WKNO to put the spotlight on what makes our area a great place to live.”
‘KNO Tonite debuted in September, 2010, as a local programming initiative fulfilling the community’s desire for more local programming. Local Color joins Sports Files with Geoff Calkins and Behind the Headlines as the third show produced each week in the WKNO Digital Media Center. Southern Routes airs on Mondays. Sports Files airs on Tuesdays. Interviews with a variety of artists, musicians, authors and more airs Wednesdays on A Conversation With . . . and Newsmakers, and the news and information series, Behind the Headlines, hosted by Eric Barnes, publisher of The Daily News, airs on Fridays.
‘KNO Tonite airs on WKNO/Channel 10 Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m. Hosted by WKNO’s Mark Koonce, ‘KNO Tonite also airs weeknights at 11:00 on WKNO2, available over the air on Channel 10.2 and on Comcast Digital Cable Channel 910. More information is at wkno.org.
