WKNO Delivers the WORLD
WKNO is pleased to announce the premiere of The WORLD service on Monday, January 23 at
11:00 p.m. on WKNO2, available over the air on Channel 10.2 and on Comcast Digital Cable
Channel 910. The service will air daily between 11:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. except on those days when the Tennessee State Legislative coverage begins before 11:00 a.m.
The WORLD public media service comprises the WORLD Channel, a 24/7 public television channel dedicated to delivering the best of public television’s nonfiction, news and documentary programming, and a growing schedule of content from independent producers. Each month, WORLD features selected programs reflecting timely or important topics, and in addition presents occasional season premieres, such as the newest season of AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange airing the week of January 23 with “Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone”.
The complementary Web presence, WORLDcompass.org, expands on broadcast themes and fuels content across social media, providing opportunities for broad and diverse audience interaction.
WORLD is produced and distributed by WGBH Boston, WNET New York Public Media, and American Public Television (APT) in association with the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA). The WORLD channel is available in markets representing 50% of US TV households. Funding for WORLD is provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB).
WKNO is a non-profit, private foundation serving the Mid-South for more than 50 years.
