Classic Films to Air as 'KNO Movie Nite

On March 25, WKNO will be starting a regular weekly spot in its schedule for classic films from the 1930s through the 1970s. ‘KNO Movie Nite will offer a different film (43 in all) each Friday night beginning at 8:00 p.m.

WKNO Movie Nite premieres March 25 with the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock thriller The 39 Steps, starring Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll. (The recent television adaptation of the same novel airs on Masterpiece Classic the following Sunday evening.)

In April, WKNO will be airing such classics as the 1963 film Day of the Triffids starring Howard Keel (April 1); the 1940 film His Girl Friday starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell (April 8); the 1947 film Life with Father starring Irene Dunn and Elizabeth Taylor (April 15); and the 1951 film Royal Wedding starring Fred Astaire and Jane Powell (April 22).

In addition to these classic movies, WKNO will air the new series Ebert Presents At the Movies Friday nights at 10 on WKNO/Channel 10. Local broadcast of both programs is sponsored by Malco Theatres.
