WKNO HOSTING DOWNTON ABBEY TEA PARTY

WKNO is inviting the public to the WKNO Digital Media Center on Saturday, January 7 at 4:00 p.m. for tea and crumpets – donated by John’s Pantry – and a screening of the first episode of Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey Season Two. The event will also feature behind-the-scenes clips, a chance to win a hardcover copy of the book The World of Downton Abbey. Tickets are free but limited and can be reserved at www.wkno.org/events.

Downton Abbey is one of the most phenomenally popular series in Masterpiece history. Back for an exciting second season, Downton Abbey Season Two resumes its story of love and intrigue at an English country estate, now mobilized for the trauma of war. With a returning cast including Dame Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern, Hugh Bonneville, Dan Stevens, Michelle Dockery, Siobhan Finneran, and many more. Downton Abbey Season Two airs over seven weeks from Sunday, January 8 through February 19, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. on WKNO/Channel 10.

For viewers who need to catch up on the doings at Downton — either because they missed the first season or want to watch it again — WKNO will air all four episodes of season one on New Year’s Day (Sunday, January 1, 12noon – 6:00 p.m.). Downton Abbey garnered six Emmy Awards, including the win for “Outstanding Miniseries or Movie."

WKNO is also asking viewers to host their own Downton Abbey viewing party on January 8 and is offering free Downton Abbey bookmarks for those parties (on a first-come, first-served basis). Sign up with Teri Sullivan at 901-729-8735 or wknopi@wkno.org
