WKNO Welcomes New Board Member And Announces Officers
WKNO Public Broadcasting is pleased to announce a new Board member and officers, as well as acknowledge the service of outgoing Board members.
The officers for the 2009-2010 WKNO Board are: William L. Taylor, Chairman; Dr. Craig Esrael, Vice-Chairman; Calvin Anderson, Secretary; and Michael LaBonia, Treasurer.
Elected new to the Board this year is Rick Schultz, Senior Vice President of Operations for Hilton Hotels Corporation. Schultz started his career in the hospitality industry more than 26 years ago with Holiday Corporation and now handles management oversight of Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites and some Embassy Suites hotels. He and his wife Barbara have one daughter, Larkin Schultz. They’re active in the Memphis community and enjoy the outdoors and sports.
“As a native Memphian, I’ve grown up with WKNO’s award-winning programming,” said Schultz. “I’m very excited to expand Hilton Hotel Corporation’s philosophy of supporting the communities in which we live. I’ve always been inspired by my father’s previous involvement as a WKNO Board Member and the sense of service, community and family that it brings. With WKNO, I have the pleasure of serving an organization committed to educating and inspiring every walk of life through quality programming in art, science, music, and history.”
Reelected to the WKNO Board this year are Jesse Bunn, Anne Wallace Crighton, Dr. Craig Esrael, Karen Kruse, Tony McDuffie and Dr. Shirley Raines.
WKNO offers special acknowledgement to Dabney Collier, of Collier Insurance, who has completed his nine-year term as of June 30th. During his tenure, Collier served as Chair of the Board from 2004 to 2006.
