MEMPHIS, Tenn. – WKNO is bringing music to your ears with Mr. Chuck’s Music Picnic on Saturday, May 3, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the lawn of the WKNO studios, located on the South Campus of The University of Memphis at Park and Getwell. This fun family festival is hosted by the beloved Mr. Chuck, star of WKNO/Channel 10’s Hello, Mr. Chuck! television show. Mr. Chuck’s Music Picnic is sponsored by Harding Academy.
“It’s been three years since we’ve thrown this party for the community,” said Mr. Chuck. “I’m delighted to be inviting my young friends and their families out to our home to enjoy some wonderful music and performances that the whole family will enjoy.” He added, “Mom, Dad, bring all the kids and let’s have some fun.”
“Harding has enjoyed partnering with WKNO’s children’s line-up for years,” said Betty Copeland, Director of Admissions, Harding Academy of Memphis. “Having the opportunity to join with the station for an event that combines Mr. Chuck, musical fun, and children from the greater Memphis area was a perfect fit. We know we'll be helping to host many young Harding students plus a host of others.”
Children will enjoy a variety of musical styles by local performers and entertainers on stage on the lawn of the WKNO studios. Kids will get a chance to meet Mr. Chuck, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and a new ‘KNO Kids friend – Raggs, the lovable canine lead singer of a rock ‘n’ roll band, who will join the Channel 10 television schedule in June. Kids will also have the chance to explore their creativity with arts & crafts and other fun-filled activities.
For a musical, foot-stomping good time, parents and families are encouraged to bring a blanket, lawn chairs and a picnic lunch. Concessions will also be available for purchase. Tickets purchased in advance are $5. Tickets may be purchased at the event for $10 per person. WKNO members get $1 off each ticket, and children under two get in free. For tickets: 901-325-6560.
