Feb 2008: Dinstuhl's Candies. One family name calls up a century of sweet memories for Memphians. Dinstuhl's has been making chocolate and other fine candies through five generations, and is today one of the largest producers of hand-manufactured gourmet candies. Producer Bard Cole goes into the Dinstuhl's candy kitchen to see how the sweet treats are made. Chocolate-dipped strawberries and Dinstuhl's popular cashew crunch are highlighted.
Dec 2007: Producer Larry Dunn introduces us to the ingenious Memphis artist Jennifer Hyatt. The sculptor’s imagination is sparked by bed frames, bicycles, and other common metal castoffs, so she always keeps a sharp eye out for potential treasures amongst the erstwhile curbside refuse. The reward these lowly objects receive is reincarnation as graceful sculptures such as a dancer swaying with the stars, a fish composed of many waves, and a long stemmed sunflower reaching for its namesake.
Aug 2006: And host Bonnie Kourvelas tastes the famous Ripley Tomato when she journeys to Lauderdale County to attend the Tomato Festival, a popular annual event that features great tomatoes and fun for the whole family. This year’s Festival was the 23rd and included a tomato tasting, a 5K Run/Walk, a pistol shoot, a baby crawling contest, and the Farmer of the Year. |
