The Coronavirus is not a new virus. However, a mutation of the virus now named the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) was first reported in December 2019 in Wuhan, China.

In the months following the first case, Novel Coronavirus has spread to over 115 countries and regions (as of 03/10 at 6:25 PM), including the United States.

On March 9, the Shelby County Department of Health confirmed the county's first COVID-19 case.
