PBS WARN Website

The PBS WARN website (warn.pbs.org) displays every Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) issued in the United States and its territories. FEMA and public safety professionals across the US rely on The PBS WARN website for situational awareness and alert validation. They also use the PBS WARN website to search and display expired alerts for after-action reviews and training.

Eyes on IPAWS

Eyes on IPAWS is a situational awareness app that provides emergency managers access to WEAs in real-time. Using a TV antenna and receiver, the app receives alerts from local PBS member station airwaves without relying internet or cellular networks, making it a useful backup resource in an emergency operations center. Please contact us if you'd like the app for your public agency.

PBS WARN

PBS stations play a critical role in keeping all Americans safe. It is part of our mission and commitment to strengthen the safety of all the communities we serve. Through our Warning, Alert, Response Network, called PBS WARN, Wireless Emergency Alerts get delivered when they matter most—when other systems fail.

Here’s how it works. PBS WARN combines the unique and expansive PBS Member Station reach to create a vital backup path for Wireless Emergency Alerts. It allows local, state, and national agencies to instantly send short-message warnings directly to mobile devices.

Critically, if a cybersecurity incident or internet disruption breaks down a cell carrier’s primary connection to FEMA, PBS WARN provides an immediate alternate source for inbound Wireless Emergency Alerts.

The PBS WARN website, shown below, displays all active WEAs in the US. Tap the >> button on the map to access the filters, which allow you to see expired alerts and search for specific alerts.
